The Full Story
Over the past year, Floatpoint set out to offer high-quality game hosting with strong infrastructure, fair pricing, and a focus on transparency. We built real systems, supported real communities, and learned what it truly takes to run hosting with care.
The market has consolidated quickly. Most providers now run on the same underlying technology, and differentiation is driven more by scale and distribution than product quality alone. Competing head-to-head on price or features wasn't a sustainable strategy.
We covered short-term costs, but continuing meant accepting long-term risk without offering something meaningfully different. Rather than let service quality fade or put customers in a gray area, we chose to pause and reset.
This is a deliberate reset. Floatpoint wasn't yet delivering the unique, long-term value we believe the market deserves. Stepping back gives us the space to build it right.
We're maintaining relationships with our data center partners so that if hosting returns, it can be done properly. The next version of Floatpoint will be shaped by everything we learned running real infrastructure for real customers.
